Making a viral video takes lots of effort and lots of marketing. If you think you can become a champ in just a day, then just forget it.

I have been making videos for long time now and have tried all sorts of methods to gain popularity. Most of them dragged me to hell and my channel got banned several times. If you want to gain more views on your YouTube channel, then the first key is to make amazing videos, and to know how to describe and share your creation. Using good descriptions, sharing your video with tons of people, and making sure your video looks great and has an awesome thumbnail are a few ways to propel your video into the YouTube stratosphere.

The key to your success is to show the audience what they want to see not what you think is good to watch. Here are few useful tips for you all:

1. Use an Appealing Title for your video

Your videos title should be short, engaging, and to the point.

2. Describe your video properly and use appropriate Tags

People want stories so, tell them the story. Most people ignore this step, but taking this step seriously can increase your views. Describe your video accurately and provide a precise description of what people can expect when they see the video.

3. Don’t release on Monday or Tuesday

Most big YouTubers launch their videos on Mondays or Tuesdays so avoid those days. Generally people watch YouTube videos when they are at work and while watching the news. I chose Wednesday because people are busy catching up with email on Monday and Tuesday. Release your video on a slow news day, if there are already some hot topic going on in the market no one will watch your video. Weekends are speed bumps so absolutely avoid them.

You can also email your friends, family, and coworkers as soon as you launch a video. Create an email list and and add your video link and thumbnail to it.

Share and Re-share them whenever possible.

4. Make your video shorter

In this world where everything is already done no one wants to see a video that are 5 minutes or 10 minutes long. Frankly speaking, the first thing people do when they play a video is to check the size of it. Then they decide if they are going to watch it or not. Make your video as short as possible while still keeping the heart of the story.

5. Use blogs to spread the word

Blogs like reddit, Google+, Hacker News, buzzfeed, break.com, facebook, twitter , break will help you a lot in making your video go viral.

One thing you should keep in mind here is, if you are posting the link over and over again you will be silent banned (your posts will be hidden from other bloggers) from the communities. So, my recommendation is to create two accounts one is your primary account which you will be using to post your blog posts other one to observer if the post actually is visible in the community. Do not use the same browser to view both the accounts. Use two different browsers.

6. Add music to your video

A good audio track can spruce up the video and disguise any audio problems you may have had. YouTube has a massive audio library which you can select from. However do not include 3rd party audio to your video. Adding third party audio can cause the video to get banned or removed completely.

8. Use annotations

Annotations are an amazing way to increase your video views. They can link one video to another, or they can link a video to your playlists or channels. An annotation can tell viewers to link to a different similar video if they like the one they're watching, and can keep them viewing all of your different videos for hours.

9. Do not purchase any View/Subscriber Increasing packages

They will definitely increase your views and subscribers for a shorter period. But google has very intelligent algorithms that can very easily chase up these bots that play the videos under various logins to increase the view count and subscriber count.

The result will be complete deletion of account. I have gone through this situation so I am warning you guys. They look fascinating at the beginning and will definitely drag your attention by the way they market their product but joining anyone of them will be a step towards the hell.

10. Monetize your videos

Who in this whole world wants to do anything for free. Don’t forget to monetize your video.

11. Create playlists and a page Trailer

Check out my Youtube channel to see how I am using the playlist feature to make my page look awesome.

A page intro or the “Unsubscriber Trailer” is very important for all the new viewers who are visiting your page for the first time. Explain your YouTube page properly and frankly speaking keep it short.

Also an appropriate channel icon, channel banner and channel name helps people find you easily. For instance, most of the channels I find through random search or something, have literally no information what they are all about and hence I get no idea what’s going on and what the channel is all about. https://www.reddit.com/user/Kenshh

12. Add thumbnails to your video

Choose a type of thumbnail design and stick to it for all your custom thumbnails. Having thumbnails look consistent from one another will help people see your videos from the rest when they look down the “suggested” videos column while watching one of your videos and so will help people stay on your content instead of clicking away since they can’t really decipher yours from anyone else’s. One thing to try and keep consistent would be: Font, Text size and amount, image type (photo or google’d image?), and the subject of the image. When laying text on your thumbnails make sure that its readable from the background, and that its readable as a thumbnail. — https://www.reddit.com/user/Kenshh

13. Insert Videos at the End of Your Video

If you linked to 2 other videos of yours on every video you make, you end up with a huge network of inter-linking videos that boost their rankings and traffic. It is best to actually insert the video footage of other videos at the end of the video.

14. Community (Post Your Great Video as A Video Response)

By commenting/posing your video on videos that you like, subscribing to and following other cool video makers and reaching out to your YouTube “idols” you can do a world of good.

Now when people are watching the famous video, they will see your link. There is a good chance that at least 20% of the viewers will watch any video response.

Collaborating with other YouTubers is great (especially when they have a following of their own) because when you collaborate you introduce one another to your follows, hopefully leading to more subscribers and fans. Maybe even stir up a little controversy.

15. Use Facebook Thumbnail enlarger to attract more people

It is so frustrating when you post your YouTube video on facebook and they just don’t appear the way you want.

The worst bit is when someone wants to view your post on a mobile device. The big play button covers the entire thumbnail and your original content stays hidden under it. Most of the time people just ignore such posts and just scroll up/down to the next more appealing content. Have a look at this bigger thumbnail generator I have created. http://www.scorphq.com/YouTube/Generator/

16. Use Tags

You know, to get appear on Google’s search result generally you put Title, Description & Meta tags on your website relevant to your content; similarly to get appear on YouTube’s search result you can add some meta tags while uploading it on YouTube. Currently YouTube has hidden meta tags appearance on video page, because most of people copy the tags and use them in their own video. Also the tag appearance was not more use full for the viewers. But that does not mean you should avoid putting tags on your video. It helps for video discovery and search of your content.

To View the tags of a viral video right click on the page and go view source and on view source page, press Ctrl+F button and search ‘Keywords’. You will see the lists of meta tags used on this video.

This video has following tags: <meta name=”keywords” content=”flipkart, bansal, sachin bansal, binny bansal, unpluggd, unpluggd 7, 2013, interview, candid, entrepreneur, startup, ecommerce, amazon india, flyte…”>

Idea is not to copy the tags of your competitor, but if you have lists of tag of your competitor’s video then you can use more tags which are being search on YouTube by using adword tool.

Don’t forget that meta tags are the only ranking factors of your video to get discovered organically. Always use the tags while uploading your content on YouTube.

17. Hot Topic

Finally, if you want to get a lot of views in a short time then one of your best way is to create some topic content about something that is big right now.

And finally Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
